The capital increase closed in March has enabled
Likuid Nanotek, a manufacturer of inorganic membranes for filtration systems,
complete one of the milestones set out in its Strategic Plan 2009-2013: the unification
of all areas into new facilities. The transfer will take place
during the first quarter of 2011. For its part, the new production
and the area of Research + Development + innovation will be operational within three to six months
from that date.
This raises a very important
step for the company from Guipuzcoa (Spain), which will be increased in this
way its production capacity to develop new types of membranes and membrane bioreactor that allow new
applications within the field of industrial water purification, which is
specialized and has achieved be competitive thanks to the
reliability, robustness and cost the life cycle of their products.
Furthermore, new developments
will enable the firm to enter new markets such as food or biopharma, sectors
that already receives inquiries and requests.
All these developments require a
significant effort in R + D + i, base of the business project and to which the
company operates 60% of turnover. Thus, working on interesting
lines in cooperation with the CEIT, including the development of a robust
filtering system and low energy membrane bioreactor wastewater treatment, with
an energy saving of more than 50%.
It also investigates the development of a new
compact water treatment system by filtration, very robust and especially
interesting for places where water meets the appropriate conditions. In addition, continuing work on
his main line: the development of different types of membranes ultra and
nano-scale, also in cooperation with the CEIT.
This effort in the area of Research + Development
+ innovation has won the support of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Likuid has
awarded grants provided under the so called 'stop-Crisis Plan' 2010 and that
are directed at two areas: the recruitment of staff linked to innovation and the purchase of
equipment associated with this unit. In this sense, the manager of
the firm, Javier Lopetegui, stresses the importance of supporting the statutory
body that would advance the implementation of the new area of R & D, which
will give the company more autonomy in their research and development procedure.
