Tint is recommended on any window receiving enough light to make it unbearably hot or bright. The material serves as a way to reduce the transfer of heat and light,Residential Window Tinting Installation Articles resulting in a much more comfortable living space. In addition, tint can also help you save on cooling costs throughout the summer months. An added benefits of adding tint to a window is increase privacy from nosy neighbors. While the material is not entirely opaque, it lessons visibility into the home. In this article, we will walk you through your very own residential window tinting installation.

Step 1 – Grab your tape measure and figure out the exact size of the window you will be applying the tint to.

Step 2 – Do your best to clean the inside of the window with a quality-grade window cleaner. A razor may be necessary to remove excess dirt and grime build up. Inspect the area to make sure that it is cleaned thoroughly.

Step 3 – Head down to your local home improvement store and purchase the tinting you will need for the job. If you are unsure of the type or amount you will need, simply grab a customer service representative to help you evaluate your options.

Step 4 – Once you make it back home, cut the material to the exact measurement of the window, leaving an extra inch on each edge. That is to say if you are applying tint to a 12 by 12 inch pane, a 14 by 14 inch cut would be needed for an excess of one inch all the way around.

Step 5 – Fill up an empty 32 oz spray bottle with water and pour in a small amount of dish washing detergent. Shoot for somewhere around 8 drops. Mix together until soapy.

Step 6 – Sit yourself down at a flat table and lay the tint down with the back side facing upwards. Peel off the back liner while spraying your soapy concoction over the material throughout. Keep this up until the liner is completely removed and the tinting is soaking.

Step 7 – Now douse your window with your bubble fun until a time when it is clearly wet all over.

Step 8 – Next, you’ll need to position the wet side of the tint on the inside of the window. Because the material is soapy, it will be easy to reposition. Try not to fret too much over the initial placement.

Step 9 – Take your soap bottle and spray the exposed tint with the solution. Use a squeegee and run it over the film, taking care to work through all of the creases and bubbles. Continue this process until the film appears flat and is free of imperfections.

Step 10 – Use a razor to cut off the edges of the material so that it fits perfectly to the window frame.

Step 11 – Grab a few paper towels and wipe away all of the remnants of the solution. Give the window a few days to dry completely and adhere to the window surface. If you notice the material starting to shift downward, you can use some tape to fix it in place until it is completely dry.
