They act on tracks that are fitted to the rear of the vehicle. A folding platform stretches on tracks and can be taken up and down. They have a quality of being able to lift to a higher level than the load bed. They are found extremely useful for loads over more than one level in the truck. They are generally the simplest of the life types to fit. The only disadvantage of column lifts is that the platform is only able to work at a 90 degree angle from the track.
