Maersk Line is a renowned company name when it comes to international shipping. They have a formidable reputation within the shipping community as the biggest shipping and logistics company and they have a huge fleet,The International shipping industry – and the effect Of Maersk Line’s Triple-E vessels Articles with vessels in all shapes and sizes, ready to transport shipments all over the world.

In order to emphasize its position as market leader, Maersk has undertaken an endeavor that will put them firmly at the top of the shipping industry. Maersk Line has entered into a contract with Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co, ltd to construct ten super vessels, designated Triple-E (www.worldslargestship.com/shipping). These ships are going to be the largest in the world.

As mentioned, Maersk Line is already an established player within the international shipping industry and is considered, by many, to be the leading shipping company in the world. Maersk Line owns and operates the ship Emma Maersk, which currently holds the title as the world’s largest ship. Maersk Line offers a wide variety of services to their customers, services with which they take great pride. The introduction of the Triple-E ships will hopefully help elevate their level of service even further. Conceivably, the Triple-E’s will have a great impact on the shipping industry, not just in terms of size, length or width, but also regarding economy and sustainability etc.

A Triple-E ship is designed upon the principles of the three E’s, hence the Triple-E designation. These three E’s are; Economy of scale, Energy efficiency and Environmentally friendly.

The construction of the Triple-E ships follows the philosophy of the three E’s and will hopefully help shape the future of the shipping industry. A Triple-E ship has an expanded hull that can carry up to 18,000 TEU containers. The ship’s engine has been designed to consume lower amounts of energy, whilst still running at the speed that the industry practices today. Also, a Triple-E ship will produce approx. 20 % less CO2 emissions per container moved, compared to Emma Maersk.

When the world’s largest ship enters into service in 2013, it will surely change international shipping.
