The help of the DC fans are taken to minimize overheating. But it has been seen that they are prone to mechanical problems,The Modern Brushless DC Fans Are More Energy Efficient And Reliable Articles increased energy consumption and high output of noise. Generally controlling the speed of the fan will ensure efficiency and few problems in the long run.

It is for this reason that most designers choose the brushless DC fans for most electronic enclosure designs. These fans have high reliability and are easy to use. The basic DC brushless fan is a two wire device which is run through the help of DC current. The simplest way for system cooling is to connect the DC fan to a DC power supply and let it run for some time. The 12Volts DC fans are the most popular in the non telecom applications.

The  DC fans are manufactured ‘Brushless’ because it has been seen that electronically commutation occurs within the fan itself. Earlier the DC fans used mechanical brushes. This ensued in spewing of particles and EMI through out the system. After some use, these brushes would begin to have problems and fail to operate systematically. In the modern technology, brushless DC fans have replaced those fans having mechanical brushes and electronic sensors and switches. As a result of this, the new DC fans are more reliable and have longer lives than the older fans.

The commutation circuits are mounted within the fan and are transparent. Thus through this new technology, the modern DC fans have become easy to use, and reliable two wire device that gives long trouble free service to the user.

The system of brushless commutation has also increased the lifetime and reliability of the DC fans. But we must remember that since fans are mechanical devices, it is prone to wear and tear after a time of use. Generally over time the speed of the fan and its cooling efficiency becomes low or even stop working. In such cases fans needs occasional check ups. Most DC fans now have a variety of ways to monitor its efficiency and working. Alarm and speed sensors are now added to the fans. The work of the alarm sensor is to give a digital signal which will indicate that the working of the fan is gradually failing and its speed has gone down or even stopped working altogether.
