ZigBee is the language of connected lighting in homes and businesses. It is in innovative products that provide new ways to use light,Zigbee Controller Facilitates Wireless Home Automation for Lighting Articles improve comfort and convenience, and save energy.

ZigBee allows consumers easy-to-use control over all their LED fixtures, light bulbs, remotes and switches which allows consumers to change lighting remotely to reflect ambiance, task or season, all while managing energy use and making their homes greener.

The Connected Lighting Alliance, comprising almost all the major global lighting vendors, has endorsed ZigBee Light Link as the preferred standard for residential lighting applications. This decision represents the first time an alliance of leading lighting companies has unanimously endorsed a common open standard for wireless lighting solutions.

A network includes three types of devices, Coordinator, Router and End Devices. the Coordinator forms the root of the network tree and might bridge to other networks. There is precisely one Coordinator in each network since it is the device that started the network originally (the ZigBee LightLink specification also allows operation without a ZigBee Coordinator, making it more usable for over-the-shelf home products). It stores information about the network, including acting as the Trust Center & repository for security keys. As well as running an application function, a Router can act as an intermediate router, passing on data from other devices. The End Device contains just enough functionality to talk to the parent node (either the Coordinator or a Router); it cannot relay data from other devices. This relationship allows the node to be asleep a significant amount of the time thereby giving long battery life. A ZigBee End Device requires the least amount of memory. ZigBee controllers (remote control or mobile devices) and ZigBee dimmers are devices that should be added to network by the coordinator. Once added to the network, the controller can control the dimmer switches remotely.
