Being semi proprietary,Dexterity: Dynamics GP Software Development Factory Notes Articles Dexterity requires relatively long learning curve and years of experience plus industry knowledge is a big plus for Dexterity programmer.  This is why we do not recommend training your IT people to program in Dex, and instead recommend you to locate reasonably experienced Dynamics GP technology partner with Dexterity developers in staff.  In this small publication we will give you technical highlights on Dexterity:

1.       Dynamics.dic and source code.  Normally, if you already have Dex customization add-on, coded in the past by Dexterity developer, you should have Dynamics.dic with all the custom scripts in it.  Sometimes you may have Extract.dic.  If you would like to get a quote on Dexterity customization version upgrade, or add new functionality, please have your customization dictionary ready: Dynamics.dic or Extract.dic

2.       Dexterity Software Development Factory.  Programming project consists of several phases: Specifications, Code prototyping, Programming, Quality Assurance, Pilot mode or testing.  Each phase should be preferably done by separate technical consultant.  We use special term for our Dexterity programming facility: Dynamics GP Software Development Factory, where we are trying to formalize Dex programming processes

3.       Dexterity programming success factors.  We have reasonably profound Dexterity programming experience and we saw projects to success and to fail.  In our opinion, test server with the copy of customer production company increases the chances of success dramatically, as Dexterity coding might be very company settings and data sensitive.  As you know Dynamics GP as Midsize Corporate ERP application allows you to tune itself through system, company and modules settings, and it is difficult for Dexterity developer to model your settings in off-site test environment.  We recommend you to dedicate low scale test server with SQL Server and Dynamics GP Dynamics and Companies databases copies deployed
