Let’s assume that you have Microsoft Dynamics GP or Great Plains implemented and you would like to automate your warehouse floor operations with barcode scanners and real time or batch mode scanned documents upload to GP. It seems to be Warehouse Management System concept in place, where you normally have Sales Order Fulfillment, Merchandise Receipt and Inventory transfer and adjustments, however real life is a way more complex and we expect that your requirements have custom inventory handling procedures

If you do also Retail sales and have POS systems,Microsoft Dynamics GP Store Management Barcoding Extensions Articles such as Microsoft RMS, Counterpoint – you may want to integrate those with your GP.  Possibly you are in EDI (Electronic Document Interchange) channel and would like to allocate your Sales Orders via EDI.  Another possibility is B2B or B2C eCommerce openness, where you customers place the Orders online and these orders show up in Great Plains in real time – it is always good idea to combine ecommerce with WMS, where your ecommerce shopping cart based Sales documents are fulfilled via barcode scanning in the warehouse:
1. Microsoft RMS to Dynamics GP integration.  You normally post POS transactions as GP Sales Order Processing Invoices with Customer Deposits (typically Credit Card payments or Cash) or if you sell on account (memberships, clubs) – it might be just Invoice without payment.  Sales integration is crucial, however you may also want to control Purchasing from Dynamics GP and synchronize it in RMS, in Great Plains there are nice tools to print our Barcode Labels, such as Crystal Reports, Report Writer, SSRS, for example.  Integration does all the above and plus it is configurable to map several stores to one or multiple Dynamics GP companies and Sites
2. Inventory Management System also often referred as WMS (Warehouse Management System).  Here we expose SOP Order or Invoice for Barcoding via WMS Client, running directly on the Barcode scanner operating system (Symbol, Zebra, etc), WMS Server – this Windows application sends documents, received from WMS clients directly to Dynamics GP company via ODBC connection.  Merchandise replenishment is done via barcoding extension for POP Purchase Receipt form and Stock count, transfer and adjustment are done in GP Inventory Transaction, Transfer and Cycle count
3. Counterpoint to Dynamics GP integration.  It is available directly from Counterpoint, and it send POS sales day to Dynamics GP General Ledger and Store Purchases into Dynamics GP Payable Management module.  Integrations work as DTS packages (or similar technology in MS SQL Server 2005, 2008).  Counterpoint integrations could be customized
4. EDI.  There are Electronic Document Interchange tools available from Dynamics GP ISV partners, however there is often no need to purchase the one, as EDI could be coded in precise SQL Select or Insert statement (Document Header, Lines and Trailer)
5. eCommerce Shopping Cart integration.  If you have custom built ecommerce website with popular shopping cart platforms, such as Magento, Asp .Net Store Front, etc. – we suggest the solution for you specially designed to be integrated with Dynamics GP in quasi real time and with WMS application.  eCommerce shopping cart typically gives you rich functionality, including Catalogue price list, Credit Card Processing, Items on Sale.  In ecommerce extension our goal was to enable you setup your ecommerce website integration in wizard manner in 30 minutes or less (assuming that you do not require custom ecommerce integration rules)
6. What else?  Maybe Dynamics GP customization.  If you think that your Dynamics GP implementation is too challenging, you may need to hear from Great Plains Dexterity, eConnect, Extender, Modifier with VBA, Integration Manager programming experts
