Her masterpieces Memoirs of Hadrian and The Abyss gained the consistently reputation in American and French, by which she won the great literature award Prix Femina separately in 1951 and in 1968. What’s more, at her 77years old, she came to College de France in 1980 and became the first female Academician for 350 years. The Dean of College de France generously appraised her as the great writer, “Wish all men selected in the 350 years are as talented as women like you”In the half century of 19th,Marguerite Yourcenar’s talent as writer was fully shown. At the same time, as a women living in the old conservative time, her life was anomalously free, colorful, which also attracted the attention of those fellows around the whole world.

The famous Bisexual writer

Marguerite Yourcenar is always evaluated as the talented, numerous awards and rewriting Greece history writer. The famous Bisexual writer as her special own logo would usually be added after her three features by the Biographers. She is the spokesman of freedom in that time.

Marguerite Yourcenar was born in a aristocratic family in 1903, then days later, her mother died. To some extent, it is lucky for her. As she can grown-up naturally at her will without any rules in the upper class, so she didn’t nee to be a lady according to the rule of the upper society. Her previous name is Marguerite Cleenewerck de Crayencour, but she upset the order of her noble name Crayencour to Yourcenar. She wasn’t willing to define herself to one Identity. She loved both man and woman. In order to draw one man’s attention, she would prefer to spend months in a boat and wrote a novel” Coup de Grace”. She was strongly interested in the gays in her whole life. She appraised Coup de Grace, Cavafy and wrote Yukio Mishima, Eric, who are all gays, thus she also gained their high reputation. She also loved woman, her female fellows crazily chased her, and tried their best to please her, even thought she didn’t settled in a fixed place, traveled and wrote works in her entire life with package kept in the hotels in European. As free Marguerite, there aren’t any mortal rules, but two different emotional choices –like or dislike.

The homosexual love for 40 years

Marguerite strongly loved Andrea, when she was young. But he loved man as strongly as she did. As memory of the story, she even wrote the book Fires and Sappho or suicide. Later she met her dearest love Grace. Fleck at the restaurant in 1937, then a Romance followed after two years. They went to the desert island in the north east of New York, live the rural life by raising chicken, planting vegetable. They began to travel around the world in 1944.In the later 40 years, Grace treated her as the great husband, and companied her with her wired character and translated her greatest works in English, which made great contribution to her reputation abroad. Unfortunately, Grace died 9 years earlier than she did. But Marguerite came back to European to recover their beautiful memory where they were spent together young. In 1987, her amazing whole life ends in the desert island where they lived. Six years later, a stamp was published to memorize the remarkable talented writer.

Such a great writer gained large quantity of people’s attention including me, so it tried to search her information by newspaper, in library and website. Lots of words about her books and her life can be found everywhere, but unfortunately the pictures are seldom, the video image about her is hardly few. Now Even a common people can take pictures and record their daily life by Digital Camcorder. We could know her life better and understand her works more deeply such as the back ground of works, If she could take the digital camcorder to leave more pictures and videos. Maybe she preferred to leave usually the greater space for us to imaging.
