Flick pick of the month

Stranger Then Fiction(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0420223/).

Running time: 113 minutes

Starring: Will Ferrell, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Emma Thompson, Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah

Harold Crick (Ferrell) is an IRS agent trapped in a mundane life until the day he realises that the voice in his head is actually the narrator, and he is just a character in a novel that is rapidly reaching its conclusion.

This is one of those rare films that is high on romance without the cheesy, predictable cringe-factor. In fact, it’s one of the most original films to be released in recent years. It is not a chick-flick or a slapstick Ferrell vehicle but rather sets a whimsical mood that appeals to both men and women. It is sweet, funny and the performances are magic.

Most romantic moment

I can’t tell you without spoiling the plot but it involves a perfect gift.

On the menu

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Ana Pascal, an anarchist baker who creates cookies and cakes that will have you salivating through the screen. You’ll need a sweet tooth for this DVD date because your menu will consist of piles and piles of baked goodies.

If you really want to impressArticle Search, bake your own and serve them warm. The trick here is to pull them out of the oven just before your date arrives so that he or she is hit by that sweet cookie aroma as they walk through the door. If  your a  single it makes you want to jump on the computer and grab an online date to watch movies with...

I highly recommend the Neiman Marcus chocolate-chip cookie recipe: http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/service/nm_cookie_recipe.jhtml.

Refreshments

Tall glasses of milk or Baileys Irish Cream.

Extra touches

Keep a box of tissues close at hand if you’re feeling sensitive.
