When someone gets enrolled in any stream,A Brief on IGNOU Passing Marks System Articles he or she needs to know the basic IGNOU marking system. The student needs to pass the exam to grab the certificate. So, they are required to know the basic marking system as well. Here is everything that one may need to know on this topic!

Generally, three steps are there for a student to pass. They have to face assignments, end term theoretical exams, and end-term practical exams. All these exams are needed to be passed by a student separately. IGNOU’s marking system is fixed by the university only. So, a student needs to check if anything changes in their current norms. Generally, a student has to get 35 out of 100 in the case of theory exams. In case of assignment one, the student must score at least 50% of the total number fixed for an assignment.

If a student fails to pass the end term written exam or somehow cannot appear for it, the result will show as fail. Then the student has to reappear for the exam next time. All the details of such defaulters will be available on the University's website.

How can a student check the passing marks of IGNOU?

What is the passing percentage provided by IGNOU?

The IGNOU university also provides passing marks, passing percentages, merit lists, etc on their website. Generally, 36% out of 50 is considered as a passing percentage in IGNOU. If a student gets 17.5, it will show 18 and if he gets 18.5, then also the result will show 18. In the case of the Bachelors’s, the students need to get 35 as passing marks. Gaining 34 is not enough and the student will be considered a failure.

Conclusion

Sometimes, one student may pass the written exam, but fail the assignment section. Now, if something like that happens, the university will give another chance to the student. The student needs to submit the assignment to the study centre. The submission should be done before the deadline. This is one of the most important and necessary points that a student should remember. If the assignment reaches after the deadline is over, it will not be accepted and it will be considered as a nonsubmission.
