The Agency for Science,A growing aviation industry (TodayOnline - Flight School) Articles Technology and Research (A*STAR)has inked a deal with local aerospace firm Flight Focus to develop this technology. They will jointly pursue research to develop a next-generation cabin communication platform which would enable in-flight cabin communications with various devices. The deal is part of A*STAR's efforts to grow Singapore's aviation industry.

Under the agency's aerospace programme, a consortium was formed in 2007 with four members to offer aviation players opportunities to collaborate on research.

Today, it has ballooned to 18 members and counts Embraer, ST Aerospace, Honeywell and General Electric as members. As the consortium expands, the number of R&D projects launched annually has also grown from four in 2008 to 13 this year. Claire Huang
