Most people learn to speak a new language in school. For some it may be French, for others it is Spanish. Bear in mind however, that if you do not use the language once you graduate, you may find that you will forget most of the knowledge and vocabulary that you learned in school. And unfortunately, should you wish to speak the language at some time in the future again, you may have to start almost from the beginning again, and re-learn it. Sounds familiar? All you really need to do is to just pop a CD or cassette in your car stereo which can even help in learning Spanish while you are on the road. Use the drive to and from work, or to and from your other duties in an effective way...learning Spanish.
There are lots of websites that offer free language tips, and you can download language lessons and listen to them on your computer or your MP3 player. There are also more in-depth lessons available for a fee, and language learning programs that use flash cards, images, and videos to help you learn Spanish.
If you prefer assisted learning, you could join a language class at a college, or see if there are any tutors offering private lessons in the area. In this way you get a chance to practice your skills on a real person, and what is more important is that get feedback along the way.
The easiest way to learn Spanish is to go to somewhere that uses the language, perhaps Spain or Mexico, and try to get by on just your Spanish skills while you are there. It is a good idea to at least know a few words before you attempt this, but it will be invaluable practice, and you will likely learn more in a few days on vacation that you would in several months of classroom practice.
