Living in a college dorm is something that all first time college students should experience. Attending college can be a rather intimidating experience considering for many it may be their first time living on their own not to mention the stress of a new place where you may not know anyone.

A lot of dorms have some great features like computer labs, dining halls which are wonderful since you don't want to have to take time off from studying to cook, special events from study groups to get-togethers for inhabitants and even game rooms. Most of the time there is also high speed internet obtainable right in your room, sometimes even for free, which really is necessary when in college. There often is a resident advisor provided at most times to help with any problems that you have with your dorm room or others living in the dorms.
There is however a downside to living in a dorm. If you live close to home and are on a budget then the expense may not be something that you can fit in. There is also the fact that you will more than likely reduce a bit of your privacy since it really is like living in one enormous family including sharing a bathroom with who knows how many people. There is an upside though, that family is frequently there for you when you need help on a range of things if it is school related or not.
