When most of their counterparts in engineering colleges across the country spend every possible moment hooked to their books and logging long hours in labs, these BE students attached to the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) take time out from their busy schedule to learn valuable lessons of humanity.

They invest their free time in bringing smile on the faces of scores of underprivileged children and elderly people who are destined to live in orphanages and old-age homes run by NGOs in and around the education town.

Through The Help (TH),Engineering smiles on their faces Articles a students' social service organization formed by them eight months ago, they raise funds to provide to fulfill the basic necessities of these unfortunate lots and celebrate festivals with them. "Engineers hardly get time to do such things when they start working. They will be busy building up their careers. We formed TH as we wanted to do something for these people who have gone through hardships that are unimaginable for people like us," said Swapnil Puranik, a TH member.

Engineering Colleges Tamil NaduThe TH team will soon be launching a book and clothes collection drive. "Anybody can donate their unused notebooks, textbooks and old clothes to us. We will distribute them among the needy.

We are targeting students and teachers on the campus and will kick-start the drive next week," he added.
