The college dorm lifestyle can become a completely different experience from your life at home. The big factor that makes this unique is the roommate. When you share a room with someone you don't know there are a lot of things to contemplate.
You may be the neat freak,Enjoy Your College Dorm Experience Articles or you may be the messy one between the two or three of you. (Some dorms have adequate space for three people to share one room). At the end of the day you just need to come to a compromise. It will be inconceivable to get that person totally interested in rearranging their lives and daily habits to accommodate you. The best one can do is be considerate of the other person.
If it is possible to get your friends as your roommate you should do it. This relieves some of the awkwardness associated with getting to know (and live) with someone new. This is the upside of picking a friend to become your roommate. This obviously has a downside though because your friends may be something of a slob. You may be the slob and your friend may be the neat freak. These are things that you rarely find out until you decide to live with one another. That will, unfortunately, bring you right back to square one. You will need to find some middle ground that doesn't cause the two of you to act out in anger.
School dorms still have rules despite popular belief. Lots of the dorms are locked after hours. You may run into a dorm mother or father (the person that runs the dorm) that will let you in after the doors are locked. At other times you may get quite a lot of grief about being outside roaming around late in the night hours. It is crucial to realize that the dorm is your home away from home, but it is not your property. You must not only be considerate of your roommate, you must also be respectful of the dorm property as well. Learn and follow the rules as swiftly as possible.
Person who don't do this are bound to have trouble during their time on campus. Those that do not will have to face the repercussions of moving out and locating an apartment. There aren't a lot of rules, but it is critical to follow the rules that are set. This will permit you to continue your college career and stay in the dorm for as long as you wish to.
