Finding Your Way Through Dorm Differences

Dependent on which type of dorm you end up living in will determine your experience there. When it comes to underclass dorms, some college students reside in a small bedroom joined to a living area and some students have to share a room with each other. These individuals will be expected to eat in the dining room. There may be good proximity to a stove and microwave in the living area; however, it ultimately depends on which dorm you call home.
An apartment style dorm room is offered to the more mature students. Two or three students will live in an apartment. They could perform their cooking and showering directly in their apartment. The nice aspect about this kind of dorm life is that you don't have to share your stuff with others. The way the apartment dorm is set up varies according to the college you select. Since the apartment style dorm room is a fairly new model, they are often limited to the upper classmen. You can get the experience of an apartment without paying the higher rates of an apartment.
Yet another way to set the dorms up is through a unique interest in something such as: quiet dorm, a sports dorm, a sorority, etc. The idea of these kinds of dorms is that you're around people that you like, and it will improve your experience at the college. Sorority groups have acquired the reputation as being ready to party, but that's not always the situation with the groups. Some of the groups have been set up for noble reasons, for instance helping the sick, doing community work and other similar reasons.
Yet another option is that you may decide to live in a female or male only dorm. People enjoy knowing that they live with their own sex because it won't create any issues in the bathroom with showers. In addition, people enjoy living with their own sex because it easier to get ready for the day. You don't have to worry about too many males or females being around. There are studies that have been done to prove that people like it better when they are around their own sex. An all female or an all male dorm works.
