Guide to Student Life in Nottingham

Having links to the legend of Robin Hood and to the lace-making, bicycle (notably Raleigh bikes) and tobacco industries, also a popular tourist destination, Nottingham is in England which is about 206 km north of London. Named as a ‘City of Literature’ by UNESCO, The city is home to two universities, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham and also has a campus of the University of Law. It offers 350 undergraduate and 380 postgraduate courses to a good amount of the student population each year.

Student Life in University

Nottingham has an award-winning public transport system, including the largest publicly owned bus network in England. Nottingham railway station and Nottingham Express Transit tram system also help to enhance the system. Therefore, commuting will not pose much of a problem. Living in Nottingham promised one of the best nightlife in the UK. Especially near the city center. For example, the climax is a Saturday night club event (hosted by Nottingham Trent Students Union) and plays various music like R & B, Chart, House, EDM. There are lots of clubs and pubs around the city center with different entertainment programs.


There is a huge range of things to do via the Student Union, there is a pretty much society for  everything ranging from Quidditch to Gospel choir. And if more than 25 students are interested in other activities than the Student Union will fund and help them to set up that new society. You can also get a chance to stay in one of the famous student accommodation near University of Nottingham and live the best life that a student can have.


It is also a major sporting center and in the year 2015 was named ‘Home of English Sport. National Ice Centre, Holmes Pierrepont National Watersports Centre, Trent Bridge International Cricket ground all based in or around the city. The city also has professional football, rugby, ice hockey, cricket, tennis teams. Thus students interested in sports has ample choice and opportunities.

Entertainment
Out of all the available area in Nottingham, the city center is the one which students love the most. Close to major universities, good shopping areas, nightlife, various entertainment activities, and easy commute are a major advantage of it. For undergraduate student university student halls for first-year is compulsory. Private housing offers spacious rooms with various facilities within walking distance of the university.
