If you've had your "eye" on becoming a certified iridologist (a holistic practitioner who studies the iris of the human eye for purposes of diagnosis) the New York Center for Iridology (NYCI) can help you acquire the skills and knowledge to become one.  Prospective students wanting a holistic education find that the New York Center for Iridology not only provides career training in unique healing arts,HolisticJunction.com Featured School of the Week July 1, 2007: New York Center for Iridology Articles but essential entrepreneurial skills to start up a private alternative health practice as well.

At the New York Center for Iridology there are three modules of training courses, including Module I: Basic Iridology; Module II: Applied Iridology; and Module III: Advanced Iridology.  In the basic iridology course, students are given a two-day introductory class to on the essential techniques and tools of iridology.  In this course of study, students will learn about the Jensen iris map, how to recognize ocular biomarkers (colors, markings, and patterns in blue and brown eyes); and will be given all necessary tools to complete the course - including a 3.5x Bausch & Lomb magnifying lens, a penlight, a self-exam mirror, reading forms, two eye charts, a colon map, and a workbook.  To enroll in the basic iridology course, there are no prerequisites; however, a general knowledge of anatomy and physiology would be helpful.  Students who complete this two-day course are awarded with a Certificate of Proficiency in the Tools and Techniques of Iridology.

Upon successful completion of the basic course of study, the New York Center for Iridology enables students to further their education through Modules II and III.  The Applied Iridology course (Module II) teaches students about iris signs in relation to the eight body systems.  This course prepares students for an internship, and includes a detailed colon map, workbook, brown eye light and purchasing privileges in a professional herbal company for 12 months.

New York Center for Iridology's Advanced Iridology course (Module III) teaches candidates how to read the dark brown iris, how to start a private iridology practice, how to develop customized health regimens facilitating "Targeted Specifics." (Targeted Specifics are exclusive to New YorkCenter for Iridology's therapeutic interventions.) Tuition in this course of study includes an advanced workbook, advanced eye maps, Bernard Jensen's "Tissue Cleansing" book, 7x lighted Bausch & Lomb Lenscope and a complete set of practice forms.

Other interesting classes extended by the New York Center for Iridology entail herbs and nutrition, Acid/Alkaline (pH) balance, and other professional seminars:  As an iridologist, a working knowledge of herbs and nutrition is helpful when designing natural health plans for self and clients.  In NYCI's Herb and Nutrition course, students are given an introduction to herbs, how to use herbs for each body system, instruction in the 21 essential herbs, herbs in relation to blood type, and the etiology of disease, among other studies.

While entrepreneurial health fields vary in income, a number of holistic health practitioners and alternative healers find that additional training in iridology helps to expand and enhance overall client services.
