The IELTS or International English Language Testing System examines how good you are in the English language. There are 2 exams, a general one and an academic one and both having their respective values in the market. The preparation for the test is a messy affair because you need to make compartments and studying strategies so as to excel in the test and getting an 8.0 band in IELTS ensures  good university and hence, a secured future.

The following steps would help you to prepare for the test in a more systematic and efficient manner.

8.0 band in the test

Firstly, there are 4 sections in the paper, reading, speaking, writing and listening and you must understand which section you need the maximum amount of attention. You must start studying and preparing for it at least 40 days before the test. You must and must devote a sane amount of time in increasing your vocabulary and solving model test papers will help you in time management. On the top of it, follow these guidelines.

8.0 band in the reading and writing sections

  • Reading- This is the easiest section of the test where you would need the least amount of brain work. Just keep in mind that what marks you are getting for filing up the blanks. And always count the words you read as because it helps in remembering important words and plurals used in the section.
  • Writing- This is the toughest and the most important section in the test paper because of the fact that your writing skills are tested and examined on the basis of your caliber to write different formal and informal write-ups with proper structure. You would be asked to write a letter and then an essay. The letters include-
  • Request letters(business and personal styles)
  • Job application letter
  • Complaint letter

And the essays include either an argument essay or a discussion essay from which you need to choose and right in your own words. The structures must be practiced and understood properly in the 40 days of studying and preparing for the IELTS.

8.0 band in the listening and speaking sections

  • Listening- It involves impromptu speaking skills and presence of mind as because in the listening test, a document is given and an audio is played and you need to fill up the blanks, remembering what were the exact set of words used in the audio clip. Try to guess what questions could be asked and remember not to get hyper or impatient. Keep calm and keep listening with full concentration.
  • Speaking- There are two sub sections in this category. Firstly, a small interview is held and your name and personal details and likes and dislikes are asked and in the second fragment, you are given a something to speak on. This is where the maximum amount of your speaking skills, intelligence and vocabulary is tested and if you excel in this round, you are good to go.

Always remember to keep calm and use your head during the exams. On the day before the exam take rest, read a book and listen to music or go for evening walk and relax.
