Indigenous Student Cultural House, called ISCH for short, appeared as a result of collaboration between the Indigenous Student Centre and Residence and Housing. It was done in order to create a new community for learning and living available at Simon Fraser University, particularly its campus in Burnaby. So let’s all go back to September 2016 when it all began.

The cultural cleaning of the town helped the project to begin. With the help of the local Spiritual leader the special spiritual ceremony was held. The aim of which was to honor and give respect to the local spiritual practices. Additionally,Indigenous Student Cultural House Articles the four Indigenous community members got both cultural care and support with which they started their term. ISCH is a fantastic place, where members get lot of useful skills and experience. They have a chance to develop their cooperation skills, learn how to communicate effectively with their peers and members who are younger. Moreover, they also get some mentor’s experience as they have to help the younger members. Apart from this, they also organize cultural activities and participate in it. These events are held one time in a term and members try to promote Indigenous culture and traditions among other students in Simon Fraser University.
