The GATE Exam is conducted on all India bases in eight different zones all over the country by GATE Committee including the faculty from Indian institute of science,Information about Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering Articles and other institutes of technology under the supervision of Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), and Indian Government.

The different zones of GATE are categorized as follows:

Zone 1 - Indian Institute of Science Bangalore
Zone 2 - Indian Institute of Technology Bombay
Zone 3 - Indian Institute of Technology Delhi
Zone 4 - Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati
Zone 5 - Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur
Zone 6 - Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
Zone 7 - Indian Institute of Technology Madras
Zone 8 - Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee

Scope of GATE Exam:

There are many institutes in India which regard GATE as an essential qualification for postgraduate programs. Students after clearing GATE Exams can also be qualified for the award of Junior Research fellowship in CSIR laboratories. Many Government institutions also specify GATE as an essential requirement for applying to the post of a scientist or Engineer. Gate exam is generally held every year on the 2nd Sunday in the month of February. In addition to it, Gate clearance also essential to various post graduate programs including engineering, technology, architecture, pharmacy and so on.
