This MSci degree in geophysics is a four year integrated masters programme that will equip you with a broad knowledge of contemporary geophysics, along with a range of geophysical, geological and mathematical skills, including field skills and computer programming.

The skills learned on this degree in geophysics transfer readily into the world of work, and our students have been very successful in finding summer placements and subsequent employment in the geophysical industry. That is partly because the programme is fully accredited by the Geological Society of London, which ensures that this qualification is both valued and respected.

Within the modular system, this MSci degree in geophysics will enable you to develop your interests in broadly applying physics to the study of the Earth or other planets.

To ensure that a thorough grounding in the basic sciences is obtained, in the first year you will undertake physics, geology and mathematics modules.

In the second year of your degree in geophysics you will take seven compulsory modules. You may choose one of these from a specified list, which comprises archaology, physics or geography, subject to timetabling.

During the final year of your degree in geophysics you will take three compulsory modules, including the Advanced Independent Research Project. In addition, you will also take two optional modules.
