Due to this fact many high school seniors are selecting to either work a full time job to earn the money they need for college or they are opting to stay at home for their first two years of school and attend a community college for some time since this is a less expensive way to get the pre-requisites out of the way before going onto a top notch university and on campus living.
Obviously, many are disappointed that they can't afford to go away to school right out of the gate but the expense of college and dormitory living can really add up and can be very costly. Very simply just the outlay of money to set up a dorm room including bedding, towels, sheets, and all the extra dorm amenities that are near necessities in the world of a college freshman can really assist you to realize how high the expense can be.
In addition to all of the things that are essential inside the dorm room a new student will also need their meals and phone taken care of as well as some form of internet connection and very likely a new laptop computer or notebook. This item in and of itself can be quite an expenditure and most students find that by staying at home they have free use of the home computer whenever they want or need it without having to pay anything more.
Naturally in addition to all of the extras just the cost of books and tuition alone can be quite an undertaking, and while in a family of just one or two young people this cost might be bearable, those with multiple kids are likely to have difficulty and have to consider other means for paying for college. Some will encourage their students to get jobs and pay for their own tuition and books while others will either hunt down financial aid in the form of student loans or grants to help absorb the mind boggling cost of schooling.
In the end it is critical to realize that the availability of a college education is not as readily available to everyone as it has been in the past. The cost of education is up and most families are having to keep expenditures down by keeping their college freshmen at home until they become upper classman and then send them away to university.
