It's time for the young adults to go off to college and in many ways this is a good process, especially for the parents. Upon entering school you are going to need a lot of essentials to get by. Most students need books and other vital materials, but there will always be additional needs in the future. Now you don't have to be anxious about the cost so much. There are so many sites that offer all the items which will be needed, everything from linens to computers and coffee makers. For so long the parents have been taking care of their kids. Everything that their kids have ever required has been paid for by the parents, all the bills, living expenses, etc.
With the reality of going into college these young people are entering a new chapter. It's not just about school and living away from home; it's so much more than that. Your kids will be living, not just with other friends, but with strangers too, this whole experience is about altering to the needs of them and for others too. For that they will need to be accountable for money and for the things that they buy. They have to watch their pennies and go for the bargain deals.
Dorm life is a test and dorm life is a pre-requisite for what happens afterwards. It gives you the challenge of the real world and what happens out there when you start living it. So you also need to keep in mind that all of the essentials that you buy for college, it is in effect gearing you up for what you will need as an adult.
College life, specifically dorm life, is basically a shared apartment complex. And just like in the real world they expect you to be careful with your belongings and be respectful of what is not yours. Dorm life is a whole new world and you need to be prepared, particularly when it gets down to the things you must have.
