Studies from various fields of education, neurophysiology, and related sciences have shown that music plays a significant part in human lives, especially when it comes to children and their psychophysical development. In fact, neurological researches on music have stated that listening to music or playing an instrument influences the cerebral cortex and helps in the cognitive growth of young minds. These facts were, perhaps, understood the best by the ancient civilizations, which saw music as something more than only a form of entertainment and made it an important part of teaching the children.

Taking a cue from those scientific studies and ancient wisdom, we, at best preschool in Noida, one among the top international schools in Noida, have always had music as an integral part of our curriculum, right from pre-primary to our senior classes. We believe that music education not only helps in the psychological development of the children but also lets them inculcate an understanding of the diversities and varieties of different cultures. Before we get into how we have incorporated music into our curriculum, let’s take a look at why we, at Lotus Valley, bestow so much importance upon it.

To ensure brain development and enhancement of cognitive abilities

According to a study by Northwestern University, neural processing is enhanced in students who play a musical instrument, compared to those who only listen to music. Furthermore, the stimulations from learning music enhance the temporal, frontal, parietal, and occupational lobe of the brain. It clearly states our point that studying music has a more profound effect than only listening to it.

To aid in articulation and other aspects of language development

Learning music is a lot about understanding the pronunciations, getting the diction right, and appreciating the expressions. All these factors are also significant in learning languages, and thus, one of our reasons for giving importance to music learning is to accelerate language development among our pupils.

To develop an appreciation and understanding for different cultures

Every form of music, and even the different kinds of musical instruments have their origin related to some or other culture, idea, or ideology. So, when we introduce our children to the different forms and practices of music, we basically help them to develop an understanding and appreciation for the diversity and uniqueness of every culture.

To help children connect better with each other and develop the spirit of teamwork

Though music needs self-motivation and self-learning drives, it is not all about going solo. When our children perform in a choir in various inter-school and best school sectors in Noida competitions, or even when they perform being a part of ‘The Excalibur,’ our own Senior School Rock Band, they are basically functioning as a group. Thus, it is not like the spirit of teamwork can only be inculcated through sports and games, or study projects. Even music plays its part when we want our children to connect better and strengthen their bonds.

Keeping all these reasons in mind, we, at schools in Noida, have always given a place of respect and importance to the music lessons. Our students are provided with the opportunity to choose between Western and Indian classical music, along with the option to take their pick from a variety of musical instruments taught in our institution. To aid in their music lessons, we have brought together some of the most experienced and qualified teachers to guide them towards perfection.

With the seamless amalgamation of our teachers’ efforts, the presence of the finest musical infrastructure, and the indomitable zeal of our students to learn, we, at kindergarten in noida , have been remained the proud champions in many musical competitions and events. And, we are sure that our children will continue making us proud with their musical prowess in the days to come.
