When you are ready to write your dissertation, the first and the most important part is to select a topic. There are lots of ways you can use to come up with a topic. One way is to look at some potential topics and then pick one to narrow it down further. Let's discuss more.

Coming up with suitable dissertation topics isn’t easy. Students concerned over this spend several weeks just to find out the best dissertation to write. If the topic is uninteresting to the student, you can imagine just how dull and boring it will be to writing a long dissertation. If you don’t like the topic, chances are no one else will either. 

The topic of your dissertation has to deal with your specific field of study. For instance, if your major is in Education, you will need to write a dissertation on something related to education. You obviously can’t write about other topics such as sports or astronomy since they’re not related to education.

Students studying Social Services as a major may look to discuss topics for dissertations such as Development in Impoverished Areas, Homeless Shelters, Soup Kitchens, Recycling Initiatives, Employment Opportunities for the Unemployed, and Social Welfare etc. 

If students choose the sports industry as their major, their dissertation topics may include discussions over Athlete Psychology, Sport Clothing, Technology to Improve Athletic Performance, Standards of Refereeing, Negative Effects of Performance Enhancing Drugs etc. 

The above are examples of a wide range of topics which students may choose from, and even select those related to or within these topics. These can also help students to search for more topics that may strike a charm enough to get picked for the final dissertation topic. Besides, all these suggestions make for a substantial fall-back plan; in case if your in-depth search for dissertation topics is unsuccessful, you still have several other options to choose from. 

Once you have a long list of topics & titles, you can start researching for information on them. You’ll find that the more resources a topic has, the better the chance of your dissertation getting a good score, as the resources will be credible enough to back your findings. 

However, you should prepare yourself for lots of brainstorming as it is not really simple to come up with a topic that you will like and your supervisor will approve. So, you have to be patient.
