The Middle East has undergone tremendous improvement in all fields over the last 50 years or so. Of course,Quality of education in Dubai has increased rapidly Articles the world as a whole has progressed, however the progress of nations in the Middle East, particularly UAE has made the world sit up and take notice of it. Just some decades ago the image of the Middle East in the minds of most people in the world was that of vast expanses of desert, camels and people roaming around in traditional garb. But today when someone says Dubai, people have images of the high life replete with towering structures and luxurious establishments in their minds.

Talking specifically of the UAE in the Middle East, it is a country made up of 7 states known as emirates. While Abu Dhabi is the political capital of the country, Dubai is the financial capital thanks to the huge amounts of tourists it attracts every year. The other 5 states are Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quian, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. Not only is Dubai a tourist and expat heaven, it is also a pretty luxurious place to live in. The city has not only improved physically and decorated itself with glittering malls, clubs and hotels; it has also enhanced itself in fields like education which is the basis of the progress of any nation.

Education in Dubai consists of four stages which is theKindergarten for kids between 4 to 5 years of age, Elementary for children between 6 to 11 years of age, Intermediate for those between 12 and 14 years of age and Secondary for pupils between 15 and 17 years of age. These services are provided for free by the government in public schools. This is a very positive and pro education move on the government’s part and other countries ought to take a cue from this set up. Unlike other places in the world wherein free education is provided but the facilities are so pathetic that people opt to toil hard in order to send their children to private schools, Dubai also provides quality.

The medium of instruction in public schools is Arabic and students are encouraged to take up English as a second language. A sizable number of foreign accredited universities in Dubaihave been set up. The city is so aware and careful about its higher education that it has a purpose built free zone for tertiary academic institutions called Dubai International Academic City wherein most campuses of these international universities in Dubaiare located. The Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research has been established as well in Dubai Health Care City. The RIT Dubai campus is located in Dubai Silicon Oasis.

Primary education is compulsory from the age of 5 by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. Most schools offer both primary and secondary instruction so students do not need to transfer to a separate school location upon graduating from primary school. Looking at all these facts, one can safely say that the education in Dubaiis quite below average and is set to improve in the coming future owing to the rise in demand for more educational establishments.
