If the physicists were to have their version of “what came first, the egg or the chicken?” they would rather ask the same for string theory and quantum mechanics.

According to a new research,Quantum Mechanics and String Theory Articles everything written in theoretical physics can be explained with the string theory. This theory was initially introduced as a method to unify and align all theories of physics. It will additionally explain quantum mechanics, how things function on a large scale and the relativity between them.

It explains all this through a theory that the universe and all matter is fundamentally made of minute objects, which are known as strings. This had opposed the the particle-theory that explained that all matter was made of point-like particles.

Although, because the this theory is so complicated and since, quantum mechanics is very well tested, the quantum theory is usually used to validate and explain the string theory rather than the other way around. This is however, subject to change soon. The USC News reports that the USC researchers have finally been able to find a link between these two concepts. This link can define string theory as the basis to all the existing theories of physics. Hence, if the concept is proven right, the strings theory would have come first. This can therefore also explain the sources of quantum mechanics.

In this study, the researcher Dimitry Rychkov has reformed a version of the strings theory into much clearer language. More fundamentally, the researcher shows that many basic quantum mechanical laws are also called commutation rules. These rules can be derived from the geometry explaining the splitting and joining of strings.

Hence, their argument can be explained on the very basic level with a simplified geometrical structure. The only important assumption is that everything is made of strings which can only interact through splitting and joining. This we already know is the basis of the string field theory. Moreover, the commutation rules are the ones that show uncertainty in the momentum and the position of everything in the universe. Hence, if the string theory can explain the commutation rules, it can help set the mysteries of quantum mechanics straight; therefore, making string theory the basis for all theories of physics. In addition, if the above explained proves true, we can connect all the missing dots on the physics plot. It might hence, even give us a clear understanding of the big bang and the beginning of the earth.
