SA aerospace has room to grow'

Small and midsize companies have been successful in San Antonio's growing aerospace sector and are counting on future growth, the leaders of three aerospace businesses said Monday.

The Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce shined a spotlight on the companies at a luncheon Monday to demonstrate how diverse the local aerospace market is.

The three companies are Aerosciences Inc.,SA aerospace has room to grow' Articles a structural engineering business with eight engineers; IDZ Technologies Inc., which provides tools and asset management products for aerospace companies; and SkyWay Group Inc., a Uvalde-based company that has four divisions with about 30 employees in San Antonio.

Flight School

Officials with those companies said the nation's economy and workforce skills remain troublesome but that opportunities exist in San Antonio for large and small aerospace businesses.

Aviation Colleges

“We're really optimistic about the future,” said Brian Taylor, a director of SkyWay and president of FlightTime Business Jets, an aerospace charter and management company that's been in San Antonio for 14 years.

SkyWay has nine business units that provide a range of services to customers, including the acquisition, management and repair of aircraft and specialized engineering services.
