A doctor is a very vital part of any society. He selflessly cures people of their ailments and is a miraculous being when it comes to saving lives. That is the reason so many students in our country aim to become doctors and become respectable professionals. Their first step and ultimately gateway to doing that is clearing the All India Premedical/ Dental Test (AIPMT). AIPMT is a national level medical exam conducted for admission in BDS and MBBS seats under 15% reserve quota in Government medical and dental colleges of India. The examination question paper of AIMPT usually follows a similar pattern every year and is mostly divided into four sets. AIPMT has objective type questions with multiple choice answers where every correct answer is worth 4 marks making the total worth of the exam equal to 720 marks. There is also negative marking where one mark is cut for a wrong answer. Students are given 3 hours to attempt 180 questions of subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology (both botany and biology). Each subject has 45 questions and marks are distributed according to the pattern of the examination. For selection it is ideal to get at least 520 marks out of 720.

  Work more on it so that you can quickly attempt it during the exam and give ample attention to Physics and Chemistry. Giving mock tests is essential as it prepares you on how to attempt the set number of questions in the given amount of time. It is also an effective way to learn about your strengths and weaknesses. Practicing exams held in the previous years is also helpful as you get an idea about how the pattern has been.

Even though you should expand your reading material to beyond the suggested course books some books have been really good in aiding preparation and have even been quoted by toppers over the years. For Physics HC Verma is one of the best booksfor physics along with concept for competition physics for CBSE PMT by Aggarwals. In Chemistry the books are different for organic chemistry and physical chemistry. Morrision Boyd for organic chemistry and for physical chemistry the book by Peter Atkins and Julio de Paula will help you a lot. For Biology, NCERT Biology part 1 and part 2 has been the most reliable book and a thorough read will help you score high. AC Dutta for Botany is another really helpful book to prepare for AIPMT.
