CAT 2015 is around the corner and the anxiety in students increase with each passing minute.  CAT is one of the most hyped exams of all time. This year the examination pattern consists of three sections- Quantitative Aptitude,Tips to Crack CAT: verbal Ability Section Articles Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Reading comprehension and verbal Ability.  Specifically for the preparation of the verbal section, candidates are always advised to read. Now, as the verbal Ability is a totally different section in CAT 2015, the emphasis on reading increases.

Reading Newspapers, journals and books are important while preparing for the verbal ability section. It provides the candidates with knowledge of certain facts and figures and also helps them form perspectives about certain topics. Also, coming across certain words from different genres and knowing them will be quite useful. Further, the development of the habit of reading will also help in the reading comprehension section and one would be able to read and analyze faster. But, the major confusion that arises is what to read?

Aspirants must start with reading newspapers and famous columnists. The Hindu, The Times of India, and The Economic Times are some of the newspapers that one should read. It provides knowledge on various issues and topics and keeps one up to date. They can also be read to improve vocabulary. Editorial section, in all the newspapers, is of utmost importance. Further, consider reading International newspapers too. They are easily available online. Reading blogs of famous columnists, and authors can also work wonders and help in developing knowledge about particular topics.

Other than newspapers, one should keep on reading novels and books of different genres. It is very much helpful in learning technical terms and increasing one's vocabulary. Also, a vast knowledge on all the topics comes in handy while sequencing the sentences and also in reading comprehension. These books should Cover subjects like history, geography, politics, science and, individual and society. One can also read popular fiction along.

Reading will not only help in preparing for the verbal section but will help in preparation for Group Discussions or Written Ability Test as well. Developing knowledge on different topics is very much useful while cracking CAT.
