Training to Be a Certified Nursing Assistant

The first thing you need to do is figure out what sort of training class that will work best for you. There are many ways to become trained as a CNA. The most important thing that you need in one of these courses is that it meets the requirements of the state you live in. Nothing else matters beyond that.

 

Most local community colleges will offer courses in Certified Nursing Assistants. These can even sometimes be paid for through facilities such as hospitals and clinics if you agree to work for them for a specified amount of time once you’re certified. This can be a great way to get your training for free.

 

Retirement homes and nursing homes may offer you paid training onsite. These facilities can train you right on the job so that when it’s time for you to sit for the state exam, you’ll be ready to pass it with flying colors. This training is paid for, although you may need to agree to work in the facility that trained you for a certain amount of time.

 

If you’re not in a position to take classes, there are various online courses available to you for becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant. You just need to be sure that whichever online school you go through is accredited and meet all of the state requirements. All of your textbook and classroom hours can be completed right online. However, you’ll have to make arrangements to do your clinical studies. The online schools typically will take care of that, though.

 

Once you’re ready to take your exam, you’ll need to be prepared for both written and skills portions. When you’ve successfully passed the exam, you’re ready to go to work as a CNA.
