When you wash your hands, you are largely removing the germs that have clung to your palms, fingers and nails when you picked up something from the floor, when you did some gardening or when you just used a toilet. Inside the home or building, hand washing can be performed conveniently in the restrooms. But in the outdoor areas, there's always a challenge on how you are going to carry out this important activity.

When you go camping, picnicking, tailgating or when you throw a private party in a garden or a park, often there are no restrooms that can be found. Along with the unavailability of the restroom, the staple hand washing sink also goes missing in action. Because of this, people conjure up several ways for them to keep their hands clean. Some can get a pail of water while others may carry a big water jug with an attached spigot unto it. While these things may provide clean sources of water, they are not the ideal tools you can use to wash your hands. What's highly recommended is that you invest in a self-contained hand washing station because these things offer two major advantages when being used in the outdoors.

A self- contained hand washing station allows you to clean your hands without leaving a mess where you stand. Using a pail of water or opening a spigot from a jug, you'll be splashing water on the soil where you are going to perform the activity. The problem with this is that it creates a puddle in the ground that may potentially splash back dirt unto you or unto your pants. Not to mention, you can have your shoes submerged in the puddle that you have created. With a self-contained unit, you perform hand washing in a similar manner you do it in your bathroom or your kitchen sink, which simply allow you to leave no mess around.

Another advantage to using a self-contained hand washing station is that you can conserve a lot of water. When you are outdoors, water source can sometimes be scarce. If you use a pail, likely you'll end up using a lot of water when you rinse your hands because you'll just keep on dunking your cup into it. Running the water from the water jug spigot, in the meantime, is aided by gravity so spillage is a big issue. With the self- contained units, however, there is a pump system and water sensor working in place so you can limit the amount of water that you are using.
