What is a beautitudes

Beatitudes In the Book of Matthew, in the Bible, is the story of how Jesus Christ taught his disciples, or followers, his religious ideas. Jesus went up into the mountains and preached to his disciples. The sermon he delivered there is called The Sermon on the Mount. The first part of that sermon is called the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes list the qualities that men should have in order to be truly good. The Beatitudes say that if a man has these qualities, he will be blessed.

The statements we call the Beatitudes all begin with the words "Blessed are," and then each one goes on to describe what a man should be like in order to be blessed. He should be meek (which means not proud), he should be merciful, he should want to be righteous (which means honest), he should mourn (which means he should have sympathy for others), he should have a pure heart, he should be a peacemaker, and he should be willing to be made fun of or even punished for teaching and doing what is right. The Beatitudes also say that the poor will be blessed. It is not always easy to be good as the Beatitudes ask us to be, but every man should try to develop all the qualities they mention. The closer he comes to having them, the closer he will be to real godliness and religiousness.
