Why human mind love confusion?

Are you searching for happiness? Are you happy and if yes, why and if no why? The question may be very easy to.........

Are you searching for happiness?  Are you happy at present?  If you are happy at present then why are you searching ‘happiness’?  If you have to search means then you not ‘happy’ at present?

Why are you not happy at present?  At present if you are happy means, how and why you are ‘happy’?  The secret of your happiness lies in knowing why you are ‘unhappy’ and secret of your unhappiness lies in knowing why you can’t be happy.  It may be confusing, but human mind always love confusion.

I am reminded of a nice story told by Swami Sukhabodhananda in his series of Gita talks.  There was a man who had a magic crystal stone with him.  Whatever he asks to the crystal stone shall be granted.  He was living ‘happily’.  One fine day he happens to saw a sage who was also having a similar crystal stone.  But interestingly, whatever one asks to that crystal, the crystal stone always offer in double.   When one accepts the offer, the stone refuse to give the same and it will say no I will give you double than what you have asked for.  Once again if one accepts, the stone will continue to say no, I will give you double than what you have accepted.  In truth, no one can come in perfect term with the stone and hence the wishes of none will ever get fulfilled.

This is how human mind works.  The man assumed that the crystal stone what he had with him was less valuable than the one the sage had.  For more happiness, he exchanged it.  But could he really be happy?

Aspiring high and wish to have more is not a sin or a mistake or against happiness.  But it never should happen by negating the values of the present.  Why the mind goes on searching for happiness?  The bitter truth is that none has ever defined or understood the definition of their happiness or what the ingredients of their happiness are.

When the needs were happily met with the crystal stone, still the mind was searching for something better.  Whatever be the desire, the stone was fulfilling.  But the moment mind realizes the existence of yet another stone that would offer double than what is asked for, the mind start thinking that only when the other stone could be possessed, happiness could be achieved.

Another very meaningful story told by Swami Sukhabodhananda would convey the above message clearly.  There was a mystic resting under a tree.  Kiddingly a man went to the mystic and asked a question as where lies his happiness.  The mystic with a smile snatched the bag from the man and ran to a distance.  The man followed the mystic and cried for his bag.  After some distance the mystic stopped running and returned the bag to the man.  For a few minutesComputer Technology Articles, the man was so happy and ecstatic as he got back his bag.  The mystic told him that his happiness lies in the bag.

Learn to be happy with what you have.  Aspire high and work hard but do not discount or dismiss the beauty and bliss of the present.
