The Wooden block has been an aid to mankind from time immemorial. Man’s first weapon was made from wood and stone. Thus wood has a big part to play in the evolution of mankind. Wooden blocks are increasingly being used to make furniture items like sofa,bed etc., The many different pieces of the wooden block are assembled together to make any furniture. These furniture can be dismantled whenever not required and sold off as wooden block units.

Wooden block is a cuboid or cube of standard size which is manufactured in large numbers and used as the unit blocks to construct anything that one might need. The wooden block is then polished and painted which is an important process to put it into use. Many bright colours are used depending on the application. For example, the red and green colours are found to be very attractive to children. Hence, those colours are used to make a wooden block of a toy series. Other colours are used to indicate the colour of the building or statue that one wants to create from the wooden block as the basic element. The application basically decides the colour shade of the wooden block.

Next is the shape of the wooden block. The wooden block could be used as a cube or cuboid or a sphere or an irregular polygonal shape. The basic idea is to have the child engage in an activity which is refreshing and stimulating to the mind. You can make the child play with the wooden block simply by making two blocks collide with each other and make a sound which shall make the child receptive to sounds. You can teach your child to make different sounds by striking the wooden block against different surfaces. The next stage when the kid is a bit older say of 3-4 years, you can slowly teach them to make numbers out of the basic wooden block unit. This shall also excite them into play and also teach math skills. Still older children can solve jigsaw puzzles using the wooden block unit. They can put together pieces of the wooden block to create new structures which could be bridges, dams or even houses. This shall instigate the skill of creativity and improve the imagination quotient of the child.
