Acting Ideas That Could Help You

Everybody from time to time needs some advice from friends, experts or even an outsider. We all do, it is only human nature. So if you are reading this, I figured that you might need some help in getting that acting career up and running like it should be, right? Now you might be the next Harrison Ford, or Elizabeth Taylor, but if you are someone who gets nervous at auditions and readings, then you are never going to get picked. I’m going to give you some basic acting tips that could possible help you get chosen for more roles then you have been getting lately. You do not have to adhere to them all, but try one or two, and see if it does not help you. Now when going in for a simple reading, do not go in with the usual bored look, and non enthusiasm that I see in this business everyday.


   People, when you are reading you are speaking the actual script, consider yourself on stage, television, or the silver screen even if it is just a twenty minute reading. We are going to pick you based on that reading. So be excited. You need to turn that into an academy performance. No bones about it. Something else that might help your chances, even if you can not afford an agent, is put together a decent resume. After all it is a job interview, no different then working in an office. I want to see everything you have done since you were 4 years old. Plus a picture, and also add what you are willing to do, so many actors do not put this on their resume. Whether you are willing to gain or lose weight, shave your head bald or dye it pink, I want to know that. These make you much more appealing for a possible role.


   Some other acting tips I could impart to you are, be available at any time. I can not tell you how many times I have tried to get a hold of someone we wanted for the part and they had no cell phone, or would not answer their home phone. So guess what they lost the part. I would advice you to get a cell phone, and use that number for all call backs. After all we may need to do a second reading. The one principle to keep in mind here is make it easier for us to deal with you, and you will get hired more often, trust me on this. So, always have a good attitude on set if you are hired. We do not need anymore
primadonas, lord knows Hollywood and the entertainment business in general has enough of those. Also, if you are using an agent to represent you, make sure you know what they are doing at all times. I can not tell you how many times we have offered good roles with nice pay, and the agent tuned it down without the actor knowing anything about it. So make sure you know who you are hiring to represent you. Hopefully some of these acting tips will help you in your career.
