The actual clothing line (and accessories) isn't managed by Ed Hardy directly.  Rather, it is Christian Audigier that is behind bringing Hardy's artistic style to fashion store shelves.  Audigier has bought the rights to many designs that Ed Hardy created and has turned them into a fashion craze.  
The Ed Hardy fashion line tends to be a little higher in price than competing items.  This hasn't stopped these items from flying off the shelves, though.  The good news for shoppers is that pricing competition between online retailers in intense.  With a little shopping around online you can find swimwear and shirts for less than most brick and mortar retailers offer.  Part of the reason for this is that online retailers don't have a building to manage with a storefront and electricity bills to pay.  The other reason is that the relentless demand for the products.  Ed Hardy swimwear was everywhere this summer.  Christina Aguilera, Jessica Alba, and Shakira are just a few sexy celebrities that were spotted wearing these swimsuits.
This fashion trend isn't only for women.  Men's swimwear is gaining traction in the market, as well.
Go to your favorite store and price some Ed Hardy swimwear and then go home and find the same items online.  You will immediately notice a significant price difference.  You can use this savings to purchase more items!  You could put it into a savings account but shopping is much more fun.
