Flavor Flav and his infamous Flavor Flav clock are now indelibly stamped on the face of pop culture. Flavor Flav got his start as the hype man for the wildly influential rap group Public Enemy,
with which he began wearing his huge Flavor Flav clock necklaces. But many years later, reality TV resurrected his career and made Flavor Flav into an all-around entertainer.
This year he's even performing at this year's most unique summer festival, the Gathering of the Juggalos, a four-day music, comedy, and wrestling event in Cave-in- Rock, Ill. Flav (and his Flavor Flav clock) will both rule the main stage as he hosts part of the event. That's just a long line in his craziest pop culture moments, though. Here's a recap:
Public Enemy: This won't be Flavor Flav's first go-around at a summer festival -- Public Enemy commanded, and still commands, huge crowds for its searing political rap. But this man and his Flavor Flav clock always stole the show as he served as the group's hype man .
VH1 Reality Show Stardom: Flav's initial appearance was on The Surreal Life, but the most memorable were the several seasons of his own dating show, Flavor of Love. Yes, he gave each round's winners her own Flavor Flav clock.
Flavor Flav Roast: Flav, wearing his Flavor Flav clock, of course, gamely submitted to a Comedy Central roast in 2007. He was a remarkably good sport as comedians like Katt Williams and Lisa Lampanelli made fun of everything from his music to his Flavor Flav clock.
Flavor Flav as Restaurant Owner: This year, he partnered with restaurateur Nick Cimino to open Flav's Fried Chicken. No, unfortunately you don't get a Flavor Flav clock as a toy with a kid's meal, but one can dream. And maybe they'll be serving the chicken at the next edition of this summer festival!
The Gathering of the Juggalos may be Flav's only solo summer festival appearance, and it's unpredictable just what he might do. Still, we know he's able to command fans' attention, and this summer festival crowd will be ready to have fun.
