The luminescent landscape paintings of Monika Gloviczki appear to shimmer with light and color,Monika Gloviczki Creates Landscapes That Sing With Light and Color Articles drawing viewers into the artist's world. Initially inspired by the work of the Impressionists, Gloviczki modernizes her paintings by incorporating elements of abstraction and reportage. Unromanticized and expressively colored, Gloviczki's work is splashed with bright blues and embellished by golden highlights. While she often approaches a painting with a scene in mind, Gloviczki then allows her instincts and imagination to take over, producing scenes that are beautiful and spontaneous. She describes her work as a form of “silent music,” a symphony played by pigments to form a harmony of composition and color, a song describing deeper layers and moving beyond the banalities of everyday life to reveal what’s extraordinary.

Gloviczki was born in Poland but spent most of her adult life in Paris, where she earned MD and PhD degrees and worked in the medical field. She currently lives in Rochester, Minnesota, and is a full time artist. She says her new life in the US has expanded the sense of joy and freedom expressed in her work.

About the Exhibition

Metamorphosis

Featuring eighteen artists, Metamorphosis is an exhibition of contrast and change. The works on view present diverse and opposing perspectives on time, place, and the human condition, calling into question the arbitrary nature of boundaries. Through dynamic juxtapositions, the exhibition conjures feelings of harmony and mutual transformation despite the presence of difference.
