Nicolas Cage was Born in Long Beach, California on January 7, 1964. His birth name was Nicholas Kim Coppola, born to his father August Floy Coppola and mother Joy Vogelsang. His father worked in Literature mainly studying blind people. His mother was a dancer and choreographer who battled depression most of her life. the name Coppola rooted from his fathers Italian American heritage. Cage attended high school at Beverly Hills High School where acted in his school’s theater production of Golden Boy.

When he began his acting career he changed his last name from Coppola to Cage to distinguish himself from his Uncle Francis Ford Coppola. His first major film was Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
