Learning to play the piano takes some time. It is not something which you can learn in a few days time. You need to give it a few weeks/months time.
But most of the time, people don’t give it a shot because they think it is too difficult to learn or because they think it takes a very long time. Even if you are able to play the piano at a beginner level, getting more information as to how to improve further becomes even more challenging.
Here are suggestions which will help you to find out various ways to keep on improving yourself as well as keep on going. You can make optimum use of your time and resources once you start taking piano lessons, by following these piano tips / suggestions.
Besides, we also take a glimpse of the major issues faced, some of you common concerns and apprehensions. Most of the suggestions are very generic in nature and can be used by Piano students, children as well as adults, and parents.
What is the Right Age to Start Taking Lessons?
Don’t worry too much about the age. If you are an adult, just be assured that you can learn at any age. Kids on the other hand can start as early as around 5 years of age. Their motor skills (ability to use your various body parts together) would have developed by then to start learning.
Your Role as a Parent of a Piano Student!
As a parent, you need to realize that your role is not just limited to paying for your kid’s lessons. You need to take an active interest in their progress!
At the same time you also need to realize that some kids learn at their own pace. It is nobody’s fault really if your kid takes his own time to learn. Just have confidence in the teacher and don’t pressurize your kids!
Also learn to get into several tit-for-tat arrangements with your kids so that they continue to practice the piano for a few more months/years.
Look for Other Learning Opportunities!
Always be on the lookout for opportunities to learn from others. You can learn a lot from the experiences of others. Be it from people who are piano learners… or from professionals who have spent years and years playing the piano, you can definitely learn a lot by interacting with them.
Find out if there is a piano camp or a workshop or a master class happening somewhere nearby and try attending it. You will realize that there is so much that you can learn from such events, besides making some great friends.
