I like vampires. Who doesn't like the thought of living forever and keeping your youthful good looks. The whole blood drinking part is not very attractive though,True Blood Season 1 DVD Set: Vampires Are People Too Articles and I prefer the story version that allows you to walk around in the light. If you like the vampire idea then True Blood is something that you need to see.

The True Blood series is as fun as it gets for vampires. They are real people that live openly in the world. There are groups that are against them and plenty of fans that are your typical hangers own that you would expect if they really were around. There is no old school vampire action here. If these guys want to get to know you better, they will buy you a drink as opposed to breaking into your bedroom and sucking your blood while you are entranced.

The same ideas that we have about the old movie vampires works against these guys too. They do need blood, but don't have to kill for it. There is tons of synthetic blood available at vampire bars, and socializing too. Some people won't accept them. Others want to jump their bones. There is plenty of dating between vamps and regular folks. This causes some interesting complications in life.

Horror or thriller, drama or love story, all the elements fall elegantly into place in this overwhelming DVD set.  And there are lots of extras in this boxed set including interactive menus, scene access (which I personally just love), plus some great audio commentary.  I especially enjoyed the making-of-featurette and the behind the scenes stuff and special bonus features.

For vampire fans this is a must. You can get into it even if you are not attracted to the vampire culture. It has some serious excitement stuffed into everyday life. The acting absolutely can't be beat and the writing is superb. It is one of those series that I am so glad was made, for love of the books.
