ACFI business rules, the do’s and don’ts

Taking care of the aged is not an easy feat. If you have been on any homes for your aged you would say that the day to day jobs of those that work there are very stressful, there will always be old people who are who are around you asking for your help and causing you to do a lot of things that they won’t even remember the next hour due to memory deterioration. There are plenty of things that you'll be pissed off from these old people however, you can’t do anything about it, themselves will pay for their stay in the over 60's care facility and ACFI business rules states that you should provide that necessary things that they want and need. You can’t function as hardhead in dealing with this people since it will be you who'll use. That said your patience should be ten times ten the normal amount when you’re at the office than when your elsewhere. Still there are perks in working in these facilities and something of them is that you become around those who have done a lot of things in life already. You can learn from their experience or simply be amazed by their stories.

You will grow to like them eventually as well because in their good moods these old folks might be fine as well. They are just constantly tested by their mortality that is why they can be moody and authoritative typically times. They don’t ever wish to be neglected, especially those who have been big shots when they were young. That is also covered inside their ACFI business rules; you should always prioritize your patient above other activities when you’re in the workplace. Imagine yourself inside their position later on when you are getting old, living in an aged home with doctors and nurses and orderlies looking after you, you’ll want their full attention too right? So there you are, all people wants to be attended with, everybody wants to be pampered and cared like they’re the only real ones you really be worried about and that is what you should show for the old person. They do not crave cruelty, they simply want your undivided attention, because within their younger stages in their life these were like you as well, extremely important in their own rights plus they don’t want that gone since their old. So take care of them and give them what they need, as long as it does not kill them which are.

So what is ACFI in aged care and it is purpose for these old fine folks? It’s to protect their interest from people who may misunderstand them, so go figure it out and apply it to your aged care job.
