As my experience tells me, choosing a good gift for your special someone is a tough road. And it can’t be truer when that special someone is your beloved kid.

Most people think that they know the secrets, but I don’t think so. There are many people making big mistakes when they choose their gifts. And that could result in a not so good ending this Christmas.

So, what are those critical mistakes? And how to fix them? Let's me share with you my list.

Mistake #1: Picking  fit the kid’s gender

Is your kid a cute boy or a pretty girl? Do you know that boys like robots and trucks? And you know that baby girls love Barbie as well?

Yet there are many people who buy their young girl a Transformer robot to play with this Christmas! I agree that there are a few exceptions. However, unless you're very sure that your child loves that kind of toys, please don’t make that mistake!

Always bring your kid a gift that fits his gender. Even if s/he doesn't like it, at least it fits the role.

Mistake #2: Picking up inappropriate gifts for your child’s age

This one is a small mistake, but it leads to big disappointment.

Talking about toys, if you pay close attention you can see that they have something like a badge that tells us the right ages of children.

If your child is too young, you should not buy him anything that be harmful while playing. If you have older children, you might consider buying them toys that can improve their creativity.

Mistake #3: Neglect educational toys

Fact is, children are attracted more to shiny and colorful things. That’s the reason why educational toys were once abandoned by many.

But they also have a big plus point. And you know what? It can be a great gift for almost every child. Educational toys can't go wrong here!

And the fact that says they're improving their outfits could be a great news. Because you can buy it knowing that your kid will be attracted to it and learn many things.

Mistake #4: Buying violent or harmful toys for your kids

Yes, I'm talking about toys like guns or swords.

He could like them, as they rise up his curiosity. However, even if he asks you to buy it, you shouldn't! Because those types of gifts will increase the bad emotions inside a child.

They are too young to understand that. And your job is to prevent that thing. There are many other great choices. Why don't you choose him one?

Mistake #5: Ignore your child’s burning passion

Fact is, your child could become a great engineer in the future. Why? Because he loves Lego toys and other train sets for example.

And you know that you can help him in improving his ability. Why don't you do that? Don't make the mistake that you know what he likes. And you know you can afford it. But you think other things will help him more and you abandon his idea.

That's a big no-no!
