There are some steps a consumer can take to successfully get out of debt.  One of the first decisions that will help reverse the debt cycle is to stop using your credit cards.  The last thing you want to do is get into more debt when you’re trying to get out.  One practical thing you can do to accomplish this is take all your credit cards out of your wallet and leave it in a place that you won’t be tempted to use it.

Another aspect to look at while trying to get out of debt is to make an assessment of how much income you are making compared to your debt.  If your income is not large enough to pay your debts then you can get a debt consolidation. This will cause your payments and interests to get reduced in order to begin to make headway on your debt.
