Black is a wonderful color that represents completeness and whole nature. However,BLACK DRESS – BREAKING ALL PROTOTYPES Articles superstitions have forced us to believe that black is a color to be despised and not to be worn for joyous occasions. Black dress has been classified as one which is to be worn only for mourning occasions and not for joyous occasions. However, the trend is changing and black dress is becoming a fashion fever among youth. More and more young people are developing a liking towards black dress and are increasingly purchasing them.

Previously, black dress will hit the market only during certain seasons like the Halloween’s day and other mourning occasions. It was because invariably, people would have one pair of black dress which they would wear for all mourning ceremonies. No one would care to buy oneself a new black dress even if it is fashionable and trendy. Hence, shops would not have choices and variety in black dress. Only the traditional mourning type of black dress would be found. Only during special days like the Halloween’s day when everyone would be interested to purchase a black dress would shops stock them in their list.

However, times are changing and so are the habits and inclinations of people. People are more interested in their looks and trends rather than stick to old customs. Thus, there has been a steep increase in the demand for black dress. People buy them and add them to their regular wardrobe and only are particular about the quality and look of the dress rather than the colour. They have started asking the question “what’s in a colour?” Really speaking, there is not much significance of the colour in the mood of the occasion. A particular colour cannot change the basic mood and tone of the occasion. A mourning ceremony cannot turn joyous just because people are dressed in bright colors.

The tone of any circumstance shall be independent of the dresses of the people.

Today, the younger generation is bold enough to make their own choices and is able to justify the reasons behind them too. Hence, there is no question of still hanging onto the old tradition of despising black dress and wasting all the wonderful opportunities to flaunt one’s beauty. Many dresses can be made to look very sexy and glamorous by making black as the base colour. It is high time that people realize and change according to the newer trends.
