How to Get Rock Hard Abs

Are you searching for that ever elusive six pack? No, I am not talking about alcohol. I am talking about the six pack abs that a lot of men covet. If you have been training and not seeing much improvement in the appearance of your abs, you need to look at your training methods. But most importantly, you need to look at your diet. Having good looking abs is 90% diet and 10% exercise. You could have developed abdominal muscles, but if they have a layer of fat covering them, who is going to see them? So to have great looking abs, you need to cut down on your body fat.

The frequency in which you train your abdominal muscles is important. Some men think that you can work them every day since they are smaller muscles. But this is not true. Muscles develop when at rest. If you are working your abdominal muscles every day, these muscles will not get the rest time needed to develop.

The type of result you are looking for will also determine how often to work your abdominal muscles. If you are looking for more strength and are using heavy weights, you should only work these muscles about two to three times a week. The heavier the workout, the more time the muscles need to recover.

So how many sets of abdominal exercises should you do? Keep this in mind. The heavier the weights that you lift, the fewer reps you need to do. So if you are trying to get that ripped, six pack abs look, two to four sets of abdominal exercises should work.

When you do your abdominal exercises is important. Your abdomen is the stabilizer for your body. You need a strong core to keep yourself from injury when doing dead lifts and squats. So you should save the abdominal workouts for last so that your abdominal muscles aren't too tired.

The last thing we need to address is the type of exercises that you should do to get those rock hard abs. A lot of people think that you can work your upper abs and lower abs separately. This is not true because these muscles all contract simultaneously. So forget that way of thinking and find some good exercises to build your abs. You may do some work on an exercise ball or with a partner using a medicine ball. But if you really want some great abdominal exercise, enlist the help of a trainer.

There are some great tips on how to get those rock hard, six pack abs. Remember, a good healthy diet is the best way to get started when it comes to developing your abs. Without the dietScience Articles, you won't get far.
