The first thing I tell new clients as a personal trainer  is, “Low fat does not mean no fat!” In fact recent studies have shown that on average ‘low fat snacks’ have only 11 percent less fat than their regular counter parts. My clients are always astonished when I tell them this because they think low fat means 40 or 50 percent less, not 5 or 10. Effectively though, if you eat two of these snacks you may as well have just eaten your favourite regular snack instead. Watch how you dress

I tell all my personal trainer clients in Liverpool that eating salad instead of heavier, unhealthy food is always going to improve your chances of losing weight. But I also tell them to be aware that the dressing you choose to eat it with can be dangerous. Dressings often have an incredibly high fat content as well as high amounts of calories packed into them so that your salad has flavour. This will often counter balance the positive effect of choosing a salad in the first place. Be warned.
